I trim the edges of the saucers so that they stick out straight from the saucer and cut a ring of plywood to fit over it. Then I put the outer sled on, and put washers and bolts around the ede of the saucer. I'll be bringing it out to the monster game, it'll be painted and have the arm mounts on by then!
I stuck one together to snap a few pics, this is the 2 nested saucers pinching the plywood rim I'm gonna try out. I threw a few screws in so I could look at it but the 2 sleds will be glued together and there will be 10-24 machine screws, washers and locknuts around the rim of the saucer. My biggest concern is a good barrage, which I plan on taking, seperating the rim from the saucers. Light package though.
It's nice that the handle mounts will be mounted to the inner saucer and will not show from the front!
It's 33 inches now, perfect for me! I can barely contain myself from chuckling evilly any time I get in view of them....I'm a tall boy and it covers from my head to my beltbuckle!
I'll put regular mounts on this test model.
More pics to follow as I put it together and paint it!
