I have been thinking long and hard about wanting to go to a paintball game. In having hardly enough money to be able to barely go, I was wondering if there was any possible way to be able to use airsoft equipment at a paintball game, to cut down on my costs. Now I am pretty sure there is an FPS restriction, but I have not been able to find out what it is. But also, if I were to use 6mm Paintball bbs, would there be any chance of getting in to a game? Would that be aloud? I don't plan on getting into any tournaments, just some recreational games. Either way, I just wanted to know, and see what other peoples' ideas were on the topic.

Thanks.

Why don't you sell your airsoft stuff and pick up a tippmann 98 off craigslist for around $50 (yes you CAN find them for $50) instead. Airsoft is kinda gay anyways so you will be glad ya did.

While a paintball gun may be available the paintballs are out of some peoples price range. Airsoft pellets/paintballs are much cheaper and more available but I doubt you will be permitted to play using them. But you should contact the field manager or owner because they would know for sure

Having played at fields around the country, and although many of them offer airsoft, they all seperate airsoft and paintball. They are two vastly different games as far as rules go. For instance in paintball, in order for it to be an eliminating mark, it needs to be about the size of a nickel or quarter. Any smaller marks are just concidered spray, or splatter from the splash of a paintball hitting something near by. Also, paintball requires gear that is more protective than airsoft gear. That's just a few examples I can think of.

So as you can see while the purpose of each game is the same, they are quite incompatable.

And yeah, airsoft is kinda gay...

Thank you for answering my question as much as you could. Nowhere in my original statement was I dissing paintball, so thus, why are you guys dissing airsoft. Kinda makes me want to. What sort of realism can you find in paintball? Very little in my mind, but as of airsoft, plenty.

First things first, they will not allow any airsoft on the field at a paintball game. You can not use any other size paint (no matter the gun) than .68 cal. They won't even allow .50 cal paintball or .43 cal for those spyder pistols. This probably has to do with the insurance and liability stuff from HSI.

Also don't diss on paintball on a paintball forum. Yes you mite think that airsoft may be more realistic than paintball but they both have there ups and downs. Paintballs you can actually feel unlike airsoft. If you got shot in real life I bet it would probably hurt more like paintball than a bee sting of a airsoft bb. If you want real then go sign up for the military. If you want to have fun and enjoy a sport then play paintball. I don't consider airsoft a sport at all like paintball. FYI I am talking about speedball the sport side of paintball.

I don't hate airsoft and I am not trying to diss on it. I do dislike it because I find paintball much more challenging in almost every aspect. I have favored paintball for years now and probably always will.

Oh and once again to answer your question I guarantee it will be a no. People have asked before and the answer then was no and I am sure it will be a no now. Sorry man I would either look for a field that does airsoft regularly or get a paintball marker.

Thank you, that was all I wanted to know. I was not expecting such a rude welcoming to a potential fan and player. Demotivation was gained.

I appologize and feel you have mistaken some good natured ribbing for hostility. I have toyed with airsoft in the past and also have friends that play, there is kind of a rivalry between the two. Airsoft as kinda always been the younger brother of the two games, and I noticed that players from both ends kinda take cheap shots at the other game. Its all meant in fun most of the time. Unfortuneately for airsoft, paintball has a much bigger following and it is hard to find games. I know paintball is expensive to play, but you should give it a shot and see how much you like it. I am not sure of your age, but it does get more affordable as you get older, and with cheaper paint like the formula 40 available, it does make it easier to play. And if you really wanna keep the prices down when/if you get into paintball, look into playing pump. You shoot alot less paint, and it makes the games ALOT more challenging. And when you pick up a semi after playing pump for a while, well, its like taking candy from a baby.

Also, not sure if you have tried this, but there are forums for airsoft just like there are for paintball, maybe you could use those to help find more games with fellow air soft players.

Thanks for the apology. I have been in airsoft a great deal, played many games with the community. I just have not been too aware of the competition between the two. I am part of the miairsoft,probaords.com forums. I have bought and sold guns and gear on the site, very reliable. Airsoft, of course being a sport of honesty. My gear is mid-level, and still trying to trade up. Sadly, I do understand that the sport of airsoft is still growing, compared to paintball, which has much more popularity. Sadly, most people think of airsoft as Wal-Mart and stuff like that. Truth is that isn't close to true airsoft. Stores like that give airsoft its bad name.

Sorry about rambling on about airsoft, but there is still some interest in me for paintball. I have a friend who goes with his school to play here, and I was hoping he would invite me to a game. And to tie back to my first post, I was just trying to see if I could reduce cost as much as I could. But the most I can do now, with my new info, would be to bring my own mask (if that is aloud). I cannot have a true opinion on the sport until I try it.

Well, I doubt your airsoft mask will be allowed on the paintball field, but if you like, I have a spare Proflex mask that is really comfortable, and if you want to come out this sunday, me and my team, RagTag will be playing, and I am sure I can talk the guys into letting you barrow an extra marker (paintball gun) hopper and tank for you to play. Buy a case of Formula 40 paint for $40 and your registration and I am sure we can get you playing paintball in no time! We will be out there playing this sunday, just ask any ref there where RagTag is at and ask for me. Or if you cannot afford paint and registration, come out sunday anyway, I'll lend you my spare mask and we'll get you an orange vest and you can come out and observe atleast. I am pretty sure HSI still allows observers, and if not, we'll throw a camera in your hands to make you legit "press" lol.

I, just like most people in the mid level airsoft community wear paintball masks for airsoft. And for how much I would ove to come out this sunday, I probably wont be able to, but I thank you greatly for the offer. If you were ever interested in an airsoft game, let me know, or just got wander around on the miairsoft.proboards.com forums, they have listed events and other stuff. I would offer and gun and some bb's for free. Basic game for about 4-6 hours of gameplay (about anywhere from 20-40 games, possibly more, depending on style of gameplay) has a price of about $15- $20.

Thanks again for the offer, I wish I could accept it. (Might be able to probably not though).
