Do you guys get a good turn out for the November sessions? Might want to squeeze in one more game this year and wanted to see if you get a decent group there at all during this time.

unless I do not understand the method for which an airowgun works you may want to test a recurve first before you buy one. since recurves are generally not as strong as compounds you may not be able to obtain reasonable velocities.

Yeah with the compound I have, even having the weight at almost 70 lbs, the airow gun only shot 215 FPS during the twc
(I have one of the 1st 1500 airow guns made. It has a lower velocity)
I'm probably gonna hold off on / possible not get a recurve bow for that reason.

Anybody got any good stories from the TWC? Anything funny happen on field?

My first insertion was at the west gate. I follow some players down the meat grinder and we are pushing up on red insertion zone. The guys I'm with get eliminated and I look to see what looked like a decent amount of Tippmann players (at this point I was aware that was the Red insertion point) Now I'm using a marker that's slower than a pump so I knew I was in a bad situation. I run back using was little cover I have and don't get hit, to inform some world players whats going on. When I look back I realize one of the guys I was with was still down there. I didn't see him when I ran back. As I was about to decide to go help him, he gets clipped with a ball. Felt kinda bad about that one... unsure.gif Sorry man!

Let's see... It was the 2nd quarter and I started at Archie Bunker. Once the game starts I take off through the woods along the swamp line towards Sin City. Once the city is in sight I meet up with two other players from world team just as they are getting into a fire fight with some other players. I run up a small hill to try and get an angle on them only to have both sides realize we were on the same team... oops. Not only that, but the the city we were trying to sneak up on had already been taken by our team once we got there. So much for being sneaky. Could of just walked down the road right into the city.

Another one that happened right after I got into the city. I see a tank rolling through, so I duck behind a building but it's not shooting at anyone. I figure it was on our team after it rolled by. I'm walking through the city between buildings and see another tank. I again figure it's on world team and casually walk past the opening between the buildings where it has a clear view of me.
I get behind the building and there's a window the tank can see me through. I look over at it and there are markers being aimed at me! Luckily I ducked out of the way just as it started shooting. Scary moment there!

I like the layout of the city. I prefer the woods more, but with my marker shooting at a lower fps as it is, the close quarters can be helpful. I like the new red area in the city. I wasnt expecting there to be a full length wall in the middle, which routed me back out near the road. Anyway, yeah I like it.

QUOTE (FUBAR CM @ Sep 28 2009, 12:43 PM) *
Yep I saw you also. The dreads were different, but interesting. I don't think the outfit allowed for much sneaking, but it was neat to see you trying with the bow. Good for you and it's good to hear your not made of glass and comments don't ruin a weekend. People say what they want, but if you can have fun no matter what that is all that matters.

I was actually worried about the stuff I was wearing negatively effecting my ability to get around, but during the 2nd half I went off into a heavily wooded area with 2 other guys in full gillie and it didn't stop me at all. So good news there. I like the dread thing I wear. Not only does it blend it a bit, it also adds a bit of protection to the back of my head and the neck area. Its saved my from a few painful shots already. Mainly though I just like the way it looks lol

QUOTE (Murph @ Sep 28 2009, 12:46 PM) *
i spoke with you down at archie bunker. we talked for a short bit and you went to find a nice spot to set up in. One of my teamates also saw you in action (shoots pistol) and thought you were doing pretty good. Glad u had a good time.

Yeah, thanks for the advice about the area around the bunker.

QUOTE (blizzard @ Sep 28 2009, 12:50 PM) *
ditto. all that really matters is having fun. gotta say i got a big grin on my mug when i saw yoour gear storage shelter. brought back old school memories. i saw you behind the castle, i woldnt have the hair on my butt to play against all the elctros with that, so good for you.

Yeah I love that tent. Hand made, wobbly, pile of do it your self biggrin.gif
Playing against the faster markers was a learning experience, but man was it fun.

Eh, I've learned to blow people off when they make stupid comments like that. No big deal to me. Anyway, nice meeting you too. Glad you like the bow.

Thanks, was cool meeting you as well. I'm still debating if I should even send the airow gun in. It's main point is to be sneaky with it and well... with hundreds of players on the other team I had a tough time doing it. I think I'm gonna try it out in a normal open play situation and see how it holds up.

Well I got to play Saturday in my first big game using my Airow gun for the first time. What an experience! I know I met some of you guys so thanks for taking the time to talk to me.

The Airow gun and my clothing got a lot of attention. Through out the day I was called - Chewbacca 3 times, Robin Hood 2 times, asked if I was Afghani, was told I look like a women, called a hippy and hey guy with the bow. Ah good good time.

Much to my dismay when I got to finally chrono the bow, I was shooting at 170 fps blink.gif
After some tweaking I got it up to 200-215 fps which is ok, but it was killer on the arms to pull the upped poundage all day. I'm gonna have to send the Airow gun into Bowtech so they can upgrade it for me to the newer model. Which should knock it into a normal FPS range. It was a blast to use though against all those Tippmann guns. In all honesty I don't think I hit a single soul all day. I think I may have gotten someone, but there were so many people on my team using faster guns, Ill just assume they got him, but I could care less. I've never been a good shot and just have fun going out and playing.

I was pretty much fighting around Castle Roc and the meat grinder all day with a few stints into Sin city and Archie Bunker. Got shot at by two tanks within seconds of each other (a lot more terrifying in person then I expected).

All in all it was a great time and I look forward to the next time I can get out to the field and out to a big game. biggrin.gif

Are we able to get into the staging area on Friday around 1pm?
I'm going to be up to the field around then and wanted to kill some time before pre-registration opens at 3pm, by setting up my little tent.

Does the field sell barrel bags? Specifically, will there be any for sale on the Friday before the TWC?
I lost mine last time I was there (a few months ago) and I need to get one that will fit my Airow Gun.

Edit: What's the prices on them if they are sold at the field?

That's what it is meant for, but it was the cheapest and easiest thing I could make by hand on short notice for this thing. Just using it for shade/ storage area.

8 days to go!

if you are VIP camping you would be straight back of the main enterance down a bit, off of masters field. If you reserved a campsite...well were ever that site you reserved is

Oh I'm not camping on site at all. I'm talking about setting up a tent in the staging area with all the other players. The area where all the players put their shade tents. Near the big circus tent that Hell Survivors provides. That's where my tent is going to be at.
(near the east edge of the staging area)

See this link for what I'm referring too. Specifically Narf's post: http://www.hellsurvivors.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3574

Id offer mine up, but I'm only gonna be there 1 day, and it's a bit tiny. Also if your eyes are easily irritated by Patchouli incense you'll want to stay away. tongue.gif

dude were only gonna be there for one day haha
saturday and theres only two of us, if you could let us thtd be amazing, just somewhere were we can drop our gear fro a lil while hahah

Well i'll be there Saturday too. When I say a small tent, I mean small. I don't have one of those easy up shade tents that you can stand under. I have a small pup tent I made that has to be tied together by hand. About 6 feet long 4 feet high. I made it just to have my own little area to store gear and sit if the need arises. So there wont be a table to put your stuff on. Just a mat on the ground.

You're more than welcome to drop your stuff there though. I'll only have a small bag and a cooler with me, so there should be some room left.

thatd be great dude are you gonna be located up in the front?

I'm going to be up there Friday (the 25th) to register and set the tent up. I've never actually done a big game at Hell Survivors, so I'm not sure where tents can be set up at, so I'll be following others that are doing the same. I'll be where ever I can find room that's not too in the way of everyone else's big shade tents.

By front where do you mean exactly? Near the staging area? That's the area I was hoping to be near.

QUOTE (REMER @ Sep 14 2009, 11:47 PM) *
im in the same boat as mech last year i would play all day and night and be dead tired but keep playing cause i just loved doing it. this year every time i have gone out and played i have just kept asking when will it be over i dont want to be here anymore.

im 21 ive been playing since i was 9 or 10 this year has just been filled with injurys that wont heal my back my knees my wrist (i hurt my knee a week befor mmg and it is still trying to heal) the quote i keep using that everyone finds so funny is im not as younge as i used to be i dont recover as fast as i used to. so i made the decision to sit out 2010 and see if the love i had for the game comes back.

and mastermind go ahead and put them on here i went into work with it on so it wont bother me it was a very nice shade and ppl complmented me on them

I think a year off might do you good. This is the first year I'll be playing paintball again since 2007 I think. I would go out to play with some friends and would leave after about 1 or 2 games. It just wasn't fun anymore. Taking the time off though and having my mind occupied by other things made it so when I finally rediscovered paintball, it felt fresh and exciting again.
