Well I got to play Saturday in my first big game using my Airow gun for the first time. What an experience! I know I met some of you guys so thanks for taking the time to talk to me.

The Airow gun and my clothing got a lot of attention. Through out the day I was called - Chewbacca 3 times, Robin Hood 2 times, asked if I was Afghani, was told I look like a women, called a hippy and hey guy with the bow. Ah good good time.

Much to my dismay when I got to finally chrono the bow, I was shooting at 170 fps blink.gif
After some tweaking I got it up to 200-215 fps which is ok, but it was killer on the arms to pull the upped poundage all day. I'm gonna have to send the Airow gun into Bowtech so they can upgrade it for me to the newer model. Which should knock it into a normal FPS range. It was a blast to use though against all those Tippmann guns. In all honesty I don't think I hit a single soul all day. I think I may have gotten someone, but there were so many people on my team using faster guns, Ill just assume they got him, but I could care less. I've never been a good shot and just have fun going out and playing.

I was pretty much fighting around Castle Roc and the meat grinder all day with a few stints into Sin city and Archie Bunker. Got shot at by two tanks within seconds of each other (a lot more terrifying in person then I expected).

All in all it was a great time and I look forward to the next time I can get out to the field and out to a big game. biggrin.gif

Hey man I was the guy you were talking to when that idiot came up and told you, you looked like a woman. I got to give you a lot props on not halling off and drilling that guy. good meeting you and the airbow was very cool to see in person. thanks for bringing it out and hope to see you again out there.

When we did the brain tumor benefit it was torrential down pour. severe storms. it added a unique element to the games. made playing a lot tougher but if you could get past the fact of being wet. it was an awesome good time. the paint was terrible in the rain though. i had to put my tippy away mid way through and go to my cocker which hand no problems in the weather. god bless the freak kit. and i will see you guys out there regardless of weather.

you could do like a battle of bastogne or maybe a play on the battle for russia in WW2 have onside be germans and one side be russians you could call the village stalingrad.

My friends and I used to play all the time in the winter. really there are a few challenges with playing. the first is obviously weather conditions. the second is paint. you definitely need a winter formula paintball to handle the cold weather. the 3rd is the relation ship of cold to people using CO2. anyone using compressed air wont need to worry about this but to the people who shoot CO2 it is a real problem. some our friends shot Tippy 98's even had CO2 freeze in the valve rendering the gun useless. the others had their tanks turn into paper weights. we did find some work around for the cold conditions like wrapping the tanks in socks and putting some hand warmers around the tanks. other guys wore a pod pack with their jacket covering the tank and a remote line to the gun. there are tricks and ways to get around the cold and once you find them playing in winter really is fun.

I would do this all again even if it was freezeing outside. Great cause and alot of fun.

I couldn't agree more. The weather just added another dimension to the game really.

QUOTE (FUBAR CM @ Aug 10 2009, 06:14 AM) *
It was a great time and people left with a little knowledge and a some great prizes. Thanks to everyone who attended. Thanks also to Andy and Angel who put the event on with Masskickers and all the sponsors. The sponsors........Holy prizes and food what an event. Attendance was lower than expected, but anyone who came had a great time.

Thanks also to my teammates for helping with the event and helping with anything they could. FUUUUBBBAAAAARRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mechanic, you did a great job helping the kids and that gauntlet got a little out of hand didn't it? Those slides through the X got me soaked from head to toe, but to watch those kids that might not have shot anyone all day shoot us was great to see. You, Mike and all of us who ran made those kids day running back and forth getting shot.

Clown guy whoever you are thanks also for all the toys your daughters handed out it lightened the mood it the cozy tent we all crammed into for lunch.

I was so impressed all day by the generosity of the crowd we did have. I watched the lunchtime raffle and I couldn't believe the prizes, but most impressive was the redistribution of them. If an adult won a prize most times I watched as they either redonated it or handed it to a kid. It was contagious. Great job Scott on giving that kid a hopper who won the gun. It was a gravity feed, but you would have thought you handed him a Halo or something by the smile and thank you his father and him gave.

Lastly, but not least thanks to Dave, Ed and Hell Surviviors they were a great host and the refs who suffered through the rain were great also. Thanks to anyone I forgot who I'm sure helped or did something generous.

I can't wait to do this event again next year.

It wasn't a very big item for me but still i had been looking to give that to someone as i don't have a need for a gravity feed anymore. when that kid won that gun i thought wow great opportunity. I had a blast out there and it was fun playing in the rain. everyone had some marker troubles but for the most part it was a great trouble free event. I enjoyed helping the kids in the gauntlet. I let one kid whose gun was malfunctioning shoot my Autococker at you guys. All in all it was a great day and those prizes were great. I could not believe how many there was and like you said i couldn't believe the food it was an amazing buffet. I really hope this becomes an annual event i think with better weather turnout would have been much better. Thanks for putting on a great event.

I saw the spot they did on Fox 2, i liked the story of the guy but they never mentioned Hell Survivors by name. i was hoping htey would do more of a story on the actual game but what they did show was pretty compelling.

Just curious i was watching the news, they said the weather for saturday is supposed to rain like crazy with possibility of severe weather. does this game go on no matter what? I know the standard way its done is rain or shine but i was wondering if that is the case here because of the circumstances.

Weather is looking like it will be good for the weekend.

Just curious, but with the FPS being only 250 will produce a lot of bounces? just seems that is a little to low.

Oh, and thanks to the ref in the meat grinder on Saturday that helped me off the field when my leg cramped up, and thanks to Mike Meyers for helping me off the field when I got shot in the ear.

I got shot in the ear for the first time ever last weekend!
My ear was ringing for like 5 minutes, it wasnt fun

I just got my hearing back last night/this morning, it was bad. Knocked me right down when I got shot. The worst part was, I was walking off dead, and when Mike helped me up, they kept shooting at us. I don't think I'm going to wear my Flex's any more, leaves my ears open for shots like that. At least my Events cover up a little more of the ear.

I have actually had something similar to that happen to me, only i was running and a guy was crouched down in the bunker and fired up the ball went under the flexible part of my Flex and cut open lip. i had some paint go through into the goggle area. After that happened i switched to a proteus. I knwo they are no longer in productions but i will never use a flexible mask again because of that.

This is a family event. There will be activities held for all ages including those unable to use paintball guns (minimum paintball age is 10). Bounce house present for kids. Other activities planned for those not playing paintball.

Any person currently undergoing treatment should consult their doctor before participating.

A Platinum Sponsor of $320 would pay for 8 cancer patients registration fees, paintball guns with full face and ear protection, 500 paintballs per patient, all of their CO2 that's need to play the while day as well as lunch and prizes.

Sponsorship of any denomination is accepted- fees cover event costs-any monies over the event costs will be a direct contribution to the National Brain Tumor Society and mAssKickers Foundation. Donations will be accepted at the event.

Schedule:

Registration: 9am-10am

Game starts: 10am-12pm

Lunch: 12pm-2pm with special book signing by Eric Galvez

Games resume: 2pm-4pm

Game ends: 4pm

Im curious though as to the format. Is it going to be played like a monster game style where there is just one long continuous fight until the intermission with reinsertions, or is it going to be smaller 20 or 30 minute games? is there going to be only 1 field used or is the whole place in play?
